Who is Katie Miranda
Katie Miranda was born and raised in Ocala, Florida – Horse Capital of the World. Both Katie’s parents were an integral part of her development into a horsewoman. Her father was a jockey and raised his daughter to love and respect horses. Katie and her mother traveled the east coast together, attending horse shows. Her parents owned and operated a thoroughbred training center, and she grew up in the family business.
Throughout her junior career, Katie traveled along the east coast and qualified and competed at Medal and Maclay Finals, the most prestigious equitation finals, in her last two years.
Owner of White Lilac – A Woman and Minority-Owned Business
Expert in Her Industry
Katie received a bachelor’s in biology from the University of Tennessee-Martin. During her time there and after graduation, she worked at an equine hospital assisting lameness specialists and as a veterinary technician for sports medicine vets. She became familiar with alternative therapies such as acupuncture, maganwave, shockwave, and laser therapy.
She was also a member of the NCAA equestrian team for four years. The NCAA format allows for only 4 to 5 minutes to warm up with an unknown horse, which taught Katie about reading horses and helped her tremendously in the breaking and training of young horses.
She obtained a master’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Florida. After completing the master’s program, she began assisting her father full-time in breaking and training. In 2019, she started White Lilac, LLC to cater to clients who wanted a hands-on, boutique experience from a trainer.
“The answer is already within each horse…it’s up to us to listen.”
